Design Dilemma

Have I told you how much I love our house? I almost feel like it was fate that brought us together. We had been out with a realtor looking (unsuccessfully I might add) at houses one day when I got an email on my phone from realtor.com. There was a house that was just listed that met all of our requirements! 4 bedrooms - check! Updated kitchen - check! Move-in ready  - check! Open floor plan - check! Great neighborhood and schools - check! A fireplace, pool and hot tub - bonus!!! I mean, it was too good to be true. It was everything I had ever hoped that our first house would be. To top it off, the former owners had the house decorated like it came out of a Pottery Barn catalogue. It was love at first sight.

I immediately called my parents and told them that we had to go look at "our future house." Well, we wound up touring the house three times that day - once with my mom, then with my mom and dad, and then with my mom, dad and sister. Everything just felt right, and I knew that our house hunting days were finally over!

We've been in our dream house for a little more than a year now. The two rooms that we use the most - the kitchen and the family room - are both furnished for the most part. Here is a look at the previous owner's family room compared to where we are now. As you can see, the last time I photographed this room was at Christmastime.

The next room that I really want to focus some attention on is our entryway. Right now, the only thing we have in the room is a mirror! I know it takes a long time to completely furnish a house, but I have just about had it with this room being empty! The table that is under the mirror in this picture was borrowed from the family room.

The wall that the mirror is on is very long, so a typical 48" wide console table would just get lost. I have been looking for a long time online and in stores for the perfect piece to fit this wall and I think I might have found it! It is the Tivoli console table from Pottery Barn. What I really love about it is that it's an impressive 84.5" wide! In pictures it shows up as being black wood, but in person it is more of a distressed dark brown. I really think it will be a nice contrast with the mirror.

The mirror that we have now is pretty narrow, so I plan on hanging two lanterns on either side, similar to this:

I cannot even wait until this next project is completed! If you have any ideas or suggestions for this room I would love to hear them! You can post them in the comment section below :)

I hope everyone enjoys their weekend!

A Royal Affair

I don't know about you, but I was up at 5:30 this morning, cappuccino in hand, glued to the TV watching Will and Kate tie the knot! All of this Royal Wedding excitement has me thinking about our own special day more than two years ago - can you believe it's been that long? Here are some of my favorite memories from that beautiful February day...

Hamptons Winery Tour

A few weeks ago, Andy and I headed up to New York for my grandfather's 80th birthday. We decided to take advantage of being on Long Island by taking a day trip out to the Hamptons to go winery-hopping! My cousin, John, and his girlfriend, Jaime, joined us and we had such a great time and a lot of laughs.

Long Island Wine Country is the closest thing us east-coasters have to California Wine Country, but Napa and Sonoma are still our favorites by far!

I'm back!

As many of you know, my old blog, In Chrissy's Kitchen, was a fun way for me to share all of my cooking stories with you. Well, after not blogging for almost three years, I am ready to jump back in! I am looking forward to sharing all of our travels, pictures, house renovations and newlywed adventures with you in my new blog, Lambert Family Love. I hope you like it!
